Pocket rottweiler

Many people have recently been on a search for breeders who raise the Miniature Rottweiler puppies. You may have a smaller Rottweiler, but what people are claiming to be these miniature versions are actually a mix between a Rottweiler and a Miniature Pinscher.

Therefore, this article will examine the characteristics of each breed so that if you get one of these dogs, you can get an idea of the range of temperament it may exhibit.

Rottweiler dogs are extremely muscular and powerful in build. Their coat is very thick and short in length. Some people believe Rottweilers express complete loyalty and dedication, while others view them as fierce. In terms of size, they can range from about 85 to pounds when full grown. Life expectancy is between ten and twelve years. Regardless of the perception these animals may give off, most Rottweilers are very calm in nature. Note that although these animals may have a certain temperament, as with any dog, training and discipline has a direct result on their behavior.

These animals are more loyal than one would imagine and is capable of withstanding a great deal of pain like a champ. Not only are they defensive, but they are also very intelligent. It is absolutely essential for these pets to have a stern leader who is consistent. They need no know the boundaries, as with any animal. Anyone owning a Rottweiler should socialize it to a variety of people as well as animals at an early age in order to achieve the best results.

All in all, this breed makes a great companion as long as they are properly trained. Similar to Rottweilers, these dogs are relatively muscular, but they are a lot smaller in size. Their coat is also very short and easy to manage. Black and brown are also the colors of this breed, making it relatively easy to breed with a Rottweiler.

They only weigh eight to ten pounds, so you can see how breeding with this dog will drastically decrease the size of the Rottweiler-mixed puppies. This site uses some javascripting for navigation and is best viewed at x or greater with a Rottie at your side. We have received email enquiries from people asking us where they can find out more information on the "Pocket Rottie", what their temperament is like and so on, and that is why we put this page together.

Read on, and find out all there is to know about the "Pocket Rottie" as this page shows how the picture Jan Cooper used to post on her site came to be. This is the original photograph we took of one of our dogs, Sir Keats vom Baklahausen, standing in a puddle of water studying his reflection.

We incorporated this into a picture card with a little verse underneath the picture Mirror, mirror on the ground, who's the fairest Rottie around? The photograph was scanned by our neighbour Bruce, who took it upon himself to get a little creative and drop the dog into a meadow with sheep; seemingly very small sheep and a HUGE dog.

Both were sent to another friend, Barrie, who took the dog's image and superimposed it onto a shot he had of 3 of his budgies at their food dish.

The end result was the picture that gave us the image that Jan Cooper referred to as the "Pocket Rottie". I was hoping you could send me one of your pocket Rotties. You see I have a regular Rottie, a Male 3 months old. I would like another but, hubby says one horse to be is enough. Imagine that! Well, I am sure he wouldn't object to one of yours.

Somehow they think that one "large" rottie in a condo is enough! We hope you have enjoyed these pictures as much as we have. These Pocket Rotties are the easiest to care for dogs we have ever had: they're cyberdogs and they are the same dog the world over.

We would also not get older or have to downsize to a smaller property or apartment. I have had big Rottweilers since I was a boy on the farm and to me they are still the greatest dogs around. We all know that if the big Rottweilers don't have room to run and put their energy to good use they will start getting moody, chew on the furniture and have all sorts of other bad haits. So the miniature Rottweilers that I breed are not meant to disrespect the registered Rottweiler nor are they to line my pockets with gold.

They are meant for people that live in small houses or apartments or for older people that after having Rottweilers all their life don't have the energy to train and take care of a big dog. Now, 7 years later, I have finally crossed them with the real Rottweiler breed via artificial insemination. I have spent years dedicated to advancing this breed. I started with smaller dogs but they were not as stocky as I would like to see. So I made some changes in the breeding program and have been happy with the puppies that are produced.

My dogs get the best of care. There are many reputable breeders in Lancaster County. Since there have been many laws passed that have helped to put questionable breeders out of business. My dogs are all up to date on their rabies vaccination and they are wormed regularly.

Their expression reflects some of their best traits; noble, alert, and self-assured. At least one of these marches led to southern Germany, where some of the people and their dogs settled. Throughout the succeeding centuries, the dogs continued to play a vital role as cattle drovers as well as provided protection from bears around what was to become the town of Rottweil which is derived from red tile, denoting the red tile roof of the Roman baths that had been unearthed there in the eighth century.

These dogs almost certainly mixed with various Sennehund Mountain Dog strains. Rottweil prospered and became a center of cattle commerce.

Their dogs drove and guarded cattle and guarded the money earned by the cattle sales. With the advent of trains, cattle driving was outlawed, so the Rottweiler found a new job.

The Rottweiler was also used as a draft dog, but it was replaced by donkeys. With little need for this once vital breed, the Rottweiler fell into such decline that they were nearly lost. In there was only one female Rottweiler in Rottweil.

With the realization that the breed was teetering near extinction, a club was formed in and set about to revive it. Even though the club was short-lived, it did formulate a breed standard. Two subsequent clubs were formed inone of which promoted the breed as a police dog. The two clubs merged in The breed continued to grow, and by had arrived in America and gained AKC recognition.

Rottweilers have since been used as a police, military, and even mountain rescue dog. The Rottweiler recovered from its brush with extinction to work their way to the second most popular breed in America by the early s.

Their popularity has since slightly decreased and they have found themselves in homes better suited to their needs. Mini Pitbulls inherit their short stature from their Patterdale parent.

As mentioned above they usually grow to between 12 — 16 inches If they grow any taller than this, they are simply considered a Pitbull mix. Their small size makes them a great choice for an individual or a family who would like to get a Pitbull but are put off by their size. Bear in mind, though; Miniature Pitbulls are still muscular and strong.

They may be small, but boy can they go. It figures — this is a cross between two very active, working breeds. These are dogs that need at least 1 hour of vigorous exercise a day. They also fit in better in a house with a garden where they can run and play. You should always supervise your child around your dog just to be safe. It is also necessary to teach children how to behave around dogsfor example how to approach her, pet her, and when to leave her alone.

The Mini Pitbull takes after its Patterdale parent in that she is usually a very good watchdog and will bark to alert you of an intruder. This instinct comes from a strong desire to protect their territory and their family. You should make sure that this behavior is always kept in check, though.

While you may want a guard dogyou will need to teach her not to be overly territorial to the extent that she may attack whoever walks through the door. To do this, you must show this dog you are the pack leader. Otherwise, she may well try to rise to the top herself, which is where problems can occur.

It is incredibly shiny and smooth and can be white, cream, tan, brown, black, or gray. If you can, try to get a referra l from someone you know such as a friend or your vet. Here you can search for the breed you want and read in detail about the breeder as well as view photos of the puppies. To make sure your Pocket Pitbull comes from a reputable breeder that puts quality first, here are a few things you should know:.

As with any dog breed, Pocket Pitbulls are prone to a few health problems that they can inherit from their parent breeds. As I already mentioned, make sure you choose a high-quality breeder that can provide evidence of healthy breeding and has clearly taken good physical care of the puppy.

These assurances mean your Mini Pitbull is more likely to be a healthy pup. Of course, to stay healthy, she will need regular exercise and a good quality dog food. There are also certain ingredients you can look out for in food to prevent her developing health conditions or help with existing ones. This condition can occur in Pitbulls and causes low hormone levels, leading to lethargy, weight gain, and a dull coat.

Diet and lifestyle can certainly help towards alleviating this condition. Maintaining a healthy weight in your dog is essential, as the less weight on those joints, the less strain on those joints. There are also dog foods specifically designed to promote joint health, which usually include glucosamine and chondroitin as well as high levels of omega-3 oils.

You can feed lower amounts of these nutrients to a younger dog to keep her joints healthy, while an older dog already suffering from joint pain can do well on a food with higher amounts. From the Patterdale side, the Mini Pitbull is prone to a few types of heart disease. Symptoms can include:. She will need an annual heart checkup which can check for heart murmurs or abnormal heart rhythms.Read More Business ResponseWe're so happy to hear that you had a positive experience.
