It is a beautiful monitor that I recommend to anyone. However, the one oddity is that whenever I start a video, whether youtube, netflix, or amazon, etc, the monitor will go blank and then come back on. It will do this occasionally through the video until I turn it off and back on. After that, it stays on for the remainder of the video.

Anyone have any idea why this may be happening? I would try another displayport cable. Also, what hardware do you have? I made an account just to answer this xD, change your windows resolution settings to 60hz by right clicking the desktop. Hey, I'm having the exact same issue.

I'm able to watch Netflix on one of my monitors, however the other monitor gets a black screen. I tried changing the monitor that is playing Netflix from hz to 60hz, but that didn't fix the problem.

What did fix the problem was setting both monitors to 60hz. Again, that isn't a good fix for this issue, since I paid for hz. If these monitors have problems with playing video at hz, why was I still able to watch Netflix on one monitor while the other blacked out? Turn on the laptop. NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work. If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem. We're preparing to roll out an update to resolve some connection and tracking issues, and I'd like to test this patch on your computer. The patch is available on the Public Test Channel. The software will download and install an update, then restart. After that, it should update the firmware on both the headset and the Touch controllers. Once everything is done updating, please test the Rift S and let me know if the issue continues.

Hi, my Rift S has arrived today and I have two computers where I want to use it. Finally I got to the end, where it says "Continue on the VR headset" and when I put it on, the screen does not light up, it is completely black.

Then I connected the Rift S to my desktop PC and it works properly, so it has to do with the laptop or the adapter, not the headset.

Any ideas? Tagged: black screen adapter VR Ready Laptop. LBayard Posts: 9. May I don't event get past the initial setup. I have about a minute before Rift S crashes and I get black screens. I don't think it is the laptop, because I am using an Oculus Rift with touch controllers on it just fine.

I haven't tried my Rift S on another computer yet. MikePixelPusher Posts: I have msi laptop too and have the same issue. Your not alone. It appears to be a wide spread issue. I was wondering if I used a usb-c to displayport adapter would work?

Memtest is good but does not catch all issues, even if it tells you the RAM is good, it may still not be working properly in your system. Outside of that, sounds like the video card or motherboard is bad. Trying the reflow thing does not always work, and can make things worse.

So, I've read every post on this forum related to this subject, and tried everything that I could, and nothing.

Of course, I can't try either of those being on a laptop The only other thing I can see is making the USB into an EFI boot, but the problem is my flash file is not efi, it's just the file only. My question is, can efi files be added to it and to then be able to try the bootable usb option? I can make Windows boot to USB by pressing Shift key while pressing Restart, so if there's some way of maybe doing an old method to Flash, that might work, cause the current system for my laptop and file requires you to go into BIOS and update the file there.

I hit the Delete key, and it turns into a black screen with a cursor. I hit F11 and the MSI screen or a black screen and am stuck. Pluggin in or unplugging or pressing power again will allow the computer to start. I had thought this was a Windows 10 caused problem, I've stuck Win 8. Stupid Flashing "Guide" said nothing about that. Or is there anything else I can do? I wish there was a "windows" based tool or something. What other workaround can there be? What can I do other than service?

No money, health issues homebound, there must be some ingenius way to fix it. Aren't those just placing files, the flash file is still the same right? Or will efi stuff not communicate with this bios?

Previous Next Sort by votes. Nov 7, 1 0 0. I turned on my laptop though the screen stays black after many retries on turning it on. Though it indicates that the power lights is on.The most common way that a computer "won't turn on" is when the PC actually does power on but doesn't display anything on the monitor.

You see lights on the computer caseprobably hear fans running from inside, and may even hear sounds, but nothing at all shows up on your screen. If your computer is, in fact, showing information on the monitor, but is still not booting fully, see How to Fix a Computer That Won't Turn On for a better troubleshooting guide. Test your monitor. Before you begin more complicated and time-consuming troubleshooting with the rest of your computer, make sure your monitor is working properly.

With the monitor disconnected from your computer, turn it on and off. If the display shows diagnostic information of any kind, you know the display is powered and is capable of displaying content. Verify that your PC has completely restarted and is powering up from a completely powered off state. Power off your computer while in a power saving mode by holding the power button down for 3 to 5 seconds. After the power is completely off, turn on your PC and test to see if it will boot normally.

Troubleshoot the cause of the beep code if you're lucky enough to get one. A beep code will give you a very good idea of exactly where to look for the cause of your computer turning off. Clear the CMOS. If clearing the CMOS does fix your problem, make sure any changes you make in BIOS are completed one at a time so if the problem returns, you'll know which change caused your issue.

Verify that the power supply voltage switch is set correctly. If the input voltage for the power supply isn't correct then your computer might not turn on completely. There's a good possibility that your PC wouldn't power on at all if this switch is wrong, but an incorrect power supply voltage might also prevent your computer from starting properly in this way, too.

Reseat everything possible inside your PC. Reseating will reestablish the various connections inside your computer and is very often a "magic" fix to problems like this one. Verify that all the cables are connected correctly.

MSI Laptops keep having black screen issues with the last Oculus and Nvidia updates

For example, if the onboard video card has been disabled, plugging a VGA cable into it will result in nothing on the monitor even if the computer is powered on. In this case, you'd want to plug the VGA cable into the correct video card.

Try reseating the following components and then test if your computer displays something on screen:. Reseat the CPU only if you suspect that it might have come loose or might not have been installed properly.

We address this component separately only because the chance of a CPU coming loose is very slim and because installing one is a sensitive task.

Check for signs of electrical shorts inside your computer. Test your power supply. Just because your computer's fans and lights are working doesn't mean that the power supply is functioning properly. The PSU tends to cause more problems than any other hardware and is often the cause of a computer's components to work selectively or intermittently.
